Help The Baby Sleep Longer So You Can Work Longer

To make the most of nap times, here are some strategies and products to help your baby fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

White Noise Machine

A white noise machine is fantastic for drowning out background sounds and creating a calming sleep environment. Babies tend to sleep better with a consistent hum that reminds them of the womb. It’s a must-have for moms who want to help their baby sleep more soundly during the day.

I have used this one, it is inexpensive and it great to take outside with you if you feel like working in a coffee shop.

Darkening Curtains

Daytime naps can be tricky when sunlight comes streaming in. Darkening curtains or blackout shades help create a nighttime feel, signaling to your baby that it’s time to sleep, even in the middle of the day.

My husband bought these curtains for 2 rooms in the house and it was so nice to be able to sleep longer and for our babies to sleep longer and deeper during those early mornings.

Swaddle Blankets

Swaddling keeps babies feeling secure and cozy, reducing the startle reflex that might wake them up during naps. Swaddles are especially helpful in the early months when babies are more sensitive to external stimuli.

One of the swaddles I used was Love to Dream Swaddle up, it keeps the hands nice and snug inside the blanket and grows with the baby.

Gentle Rocker or Bouncer
For babies who need a bit of movement to relax, a gentle rocker or bouncer can work wonders. The rhythmic motion can help lull them to sleep, mimicking the gentle movements they felt in the womb.

My second baby loved BabyBjorn Bouncer Balance Soft he liked soothing movement that helped him relax into a nap, just keep your eyes on your baby if they sleep in the bouncer, as it is not recommened.

Balancing motherhood with work-from-home opportunities is possible, especially with companies that understand the need for flexibility. And by using nap-time strategies like white noise machines, blackout curtains, and cozy swaddles, you can maximize the time you have to focus on those projects. Don't forget the best strategy of all... having your baby sleep on your chest.
